2022 BMW Alpina B7
The 2022 BMW Alpina B7, fine-tuned by master artisans in Bavaria.
The history of Alpina started in 1962 when Burkard Bovensiepen developed a Weber dual carburetor for the BMW 1500. The carburetor was high quality and well regarded that BMW certified the carburetor, awarding BMW vehicles with the Alpina system the full factory guarantee. In 1965, Alpina became a BMW tuning business, creating carburetors and crankshafts that increased the power of BMW engines(notice how the Alpina logo features a carburetor and a crankshaft?). This development led them to become a significant force in the racing world, earning wins in the European Tour Car Championship and the illustrious 24 Hours of Spa in 1970.
The 2022 Alpina B7 reflects the decades of automotive refinement and experience in everything from the engine tuning to its interior design.
Under the hood is an Alpina tuned 4.4-liter BMW TwinPower Turbo V8 engine delivering 600hp and 627 lb-ft of torque and an Alpina tuned transmission and Sport exhaust system. Outside, the Alpina Aerodynamic Kit combines engineering and design, directing airflow to the cooling system and reducing lift to improve performance, handling, and style. And of course, one can’t ignore the gorgeous 21-inch Alpina Classic wheels. Inside, Alpina’s touch is applied to the technology and materials, adding a distinctive design that you can only find in an Alpina vehicle.
Today, Alpina carries its racing heritage and focuses on the Grand Tourer type of vehicles, vehicles that are fast and ultra-luxurious. And in March 2022, BMW announced its intention to acquire Alpina, making it officially part of BMW.
