Plant Spartanburg sets production record in 2021

For the fourth time in a row, Plant Spartanburg in Greer, South Carolina, produced over 400,00 BMW SAVs in 2021!

This milestone has only been achieved three times since Spartanburg’s inception in 1994; 411,610 units in 2019, 411,171 in 2016, and 400,904 units in 2015.

433,810 is the number of BMW SAV’s produced in 2021 at Spartanburg, a 20% increase over 2020’s production numbers and breaking the record in 2019. The plant also had built a record number of 70,000 units of plug-in hybrid vehicles in 2021. That’s a 48% increase over 2020’s numbers. Last year, 179,840 cars made in Spartanburg were sold in the United States, accounting for 53.4 percent of all BMW US Sales. In addition, 253,970 vehicles from Spartanburg were exported globally.

Opened in 1994, Plant Spartanburg is the largest BMW plant globally, producing 1,500 vehicles each day and exporting 2/3rd’s of its cars to 125 global markets.
